François Carrier is dedicated to jazz since 1979. After a two-year stay in Vancouver, he moved in Montreal in 1982 where he continued playing with different musicians. It is in 1990 in Quebec City that he put together the François Carrier Trio, concentrating on original material. The creative strength of the group has been recognized from the beginning. Their third CD, Compassion, has been rewarded the Juno Award in 2001. Back in Montreal since 1998, François Carrier played with his Trio in several Festivals in Canada and in Europe. After a six months stay in Italy, he keeps multiplying projects with special guests. His last album, ALL’ALBA, is an example of one of these collaborations.ALL'ALBA is the result of an inspiring encounter between the François Carrier Trio and pianist Uri Caine that proves the alchemy between four exceptionally open, sensitive, daring musicians. Maximum of space is given to improvisation in a spirit of creative freedom. The interaction between these incomparable players creates a completely unique sound.
