François Carrier, the Montreal-based alto saxophonist, continues to work on the cutting edge and maintain a Coltranesque search for depth that is uncompromising. He uses space effectively here to develop his compositions, with strong backup from his regular team - the explosive Michel lambert on drums and Pierre Côté on bass.Uri Caine, a classically trained pianist, adds tension and urgency to the songs. Check out his staccato and brisling statements on Lekh Leka (the Hebrew command to Abraham in the biblical story of the Covenant) and shades of Scriabin in his shimmering intro to the title track.Carrier's warm tone, lovely themes and world view dominate the session, reflecting a wide and open vision. He takes all the time needed to develop ideas and over 72 minutes offers ample rewards to the serious listener
