François Carrier: Happening On this under-noticed live release, Quebec saxophonist Carrier and his improvising partners achieve something that is not so much a fusion of traditions as a multicultural mosaic, with Mat Maneri's viola and Uwe Neumann's sitar and thumb piano making gently zigzagging congress with the core jazz trio. This double disc permits the space needed to probe the dimensions they're opening, but never wears them thin. -- Carl Wilson
